Existing Home Sales Surge in SD County

San Diego County home sales rose again last month, according to a report issued Thursday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. The majority of the gain was fueled by a staggering 22 percent uptick in sales of condos and townhomes, while the single-family market contributed, as well, with sales rising about 12 percent from March. The median price for single-family residences was unchanged from March at $491,000, but that's still about 9 percent up in year-over-year terms. The median price for condos, however, rose about 10 percent from March to April and is about 16 percent higher than a year ago.

Among San Diego zip codes, 91978 saw the most homes sold in March, at 58, followed by 92064 with 52 and 92057 with 50 sales. The most expensive home sold in the county was a 5 bed, 5 bath La Jolla home at a price tag of $5.6 million.
