Sea Lion Pup Recovering After Sneaking Into La Jolla Restaurant

A sea lion pup that snuck into a La Jolla restaurant Friday is recovering, according to officials at SeaWorld San Diego, where the animal is recovering. “She's pretty content right now,” noted Kelvin Robinson, the park's senior animal care specialist. Staff at the park has named the sea lion Marina. The animal was discovered Friday morning, when Marine Room employees found her resting in a booth at the eatery, located at 2000 Spindrift Drive in La Jolla, right on the beach. Restaurant staff called the SeaWorld rescue team, and the animal was awake and moving around by the time they got there. The 8-month old, female pup was malnourished and dehydrated, officials said, and is just half of the normal weight for her age, at 20 pounds. Despite her diminished health, however, SeaWorld staff said that a complete recovery is expected for Marina.
